20 Million Filipinos to Receive Mandatory Checkup Before Christmas

An estimated 20 million Filipinos will receive mandatory medical checkup as an early Christmas gift as part of the Universal Healthcare Program of the Duterte administration, according the Department of Health Secretary Paulyn Ubial. Ubial added that the DOH will conduct free checkups in the first 100 days which will mainly cater the poor Filipinos, particularly those who are included in the National Household Targetting System list of the Department of Social Welfare and Development. The Department of Health (DOH) launched a Stroke Medical Assistance Program last week in celebration of Brain Attack Awareness Week.  The assistance program aimed to make stroke medication alteplase or tissue plasminogen activator available to the public for free if availed through selected DOH government hospitals nationwide. The initiative came after an observation that patients who have had stroke are forced to be brought to a private hospital to seek urgent treatment for brain attacks.
